From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
